Diaz Digital Discoveries, LLC Massachusetts professional portrait and wedding photographer and videographer located in Oxford, MA, Worcester, Ma area

The most frequently asked question we get from our clients is:  “How much time do you need to take all the formal photos?”

My answer is always:  2 hours.  Here’s why…by the time we get through your entire wedding party, immediate family, extended family and closest friends (for both sides), close to one hour will have passed.  That means that if we only had 1 hour for photos, we will have about 10 or 15 minutes to photograph you and your spouse.  If you ask me…that isn’t enough time to get enough photos of you both.  You’ve invested all this time and money into your wedding day and you should get more than just a handful of photos of you and your spouse. With proper planning, if we have 2 hours for photos, you will get lots of beautiful, creative images of you both together and separately.

How do you identify your photographic style?

Our style is a mix of Traditional and Photojournalistic with a Creative, Artistic, Fun, Fashion kick. (No…we aren’t really old school. That’s just a gag on my t-shirt…but we can be…if that’s what you want.)

Please describe any special techniques you offer:
Black & White, Various Color Effects, Sepia Tone, Fine Art Images, and most of the latest Special Effects.

Which lighting situations do you have experience with?

We have experience photographing in all lighting situations from Low Light to Direct Sunlight.

Do you have a media preference?

We prefer Digital as our primary and backup source. We only photograph using Film for fun.

How many photographers do you work with?

Although all of our packages include only one photographer and one assistant, we have access to up to 4 other photographers and I can have as many at a wedding as you wish. You are only limited to your photography budget.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?

We do offer some associate wedding services, which would be photographed by one of the highly skilled photographers in our team.  For our other services,  I attend as Primary Photographer.  If I am ill, I guarantee that my replacement will be another professional photographer, approved by me, whose style and quality is equal to mine.

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one wedding in a day?

Our firm policy is no second weddings booked the same day of an already booked wedding.  We like to concentrate all of our efforts and energy on one wedding so we can provide our all to clients without worrying about another wedding the same day.  That being said, we will occasionally book our Photography services separately than our Videography services for different weddings, which will be on the same date.

Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the wedding day?

Yes. I currently have 4 trusted photographers to choose from…each of them can work on their own as a primary photographer.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day of the wedding?

2 professional Digital SLR Cameras. 1 that I work with and 1 for backup. Multiple lights and several other accessories. I never know what I will need, so I arrive prepared for almost any situation.

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?

Yes. I have 1 Digital camera Backup and backup lights and lenses.

Do you charge hourly or full day?

If hourly, are you available for shooting overtime? If so, how much do you charge for overtime?

Yes. We are available for overtime.  Our current hourly rate for overtime is $400 (for the whole team).

Do you require a meal break? If yes, do you require that the wedding couple provide your meal?

Yes, we do require a meal break.  Although we do not require you to provide us with a meal, we would greatly appreciate it if you did.  If you do not plan to provide us with a meal, we just need to know this prior to your wedding day, so we can plan accordingly and bring our own food.  Our team works incredibly hard throughout your wedding day.  We can get pretty hungry during an 8 – 10 hour day of shooting.  You wouldn’t want to work all day long without eating would you??  So, all we ask is that you let us know whether you plan to provide each of us with a meal, or not.

How many breaks do you usually take throughout the day?

We may rest briefly at times during the day if there is downtime, or during dinner time, but otherwise, we are working throughout the day or evening.

Do you charge for travel and if so, how much?

We charge $50/hr (or any part of the hour, each way).  If the distance is approximately 1 hour or less, there’s no extra charge for travel. For destination weddings, travel and expense fees are in addition to our normal wedding package prices, starting with the second  hour after departure from our Oxford, MA location.

When will my photos be ready?

Typically your photos will be ready for viewing in approximately 3 – 4 weeks.  There are usually lots of images to edit through after a wedding and 3 weeks is just about enough time for us to be ready with your photos.  During our busiest times, it may be closer to the 4 week wait time.

How will I get my photos?

We offer any of the following: Digital Delivery (Download), USB thumb drive, or Online Proofs. Any of these are available depending on your specific needs.

How long do I have to pick my wedding album images?

No longer than 3 months after your wedding day.  I would like to have your Album picks as soon as possible, so I can get started on designing your Wedding Album right away.   All images are yours to keep on the disc, but we do not save your images on our hard drives indefinitely.  Additional Storage and Archival Fees may apply if you have not chosen your wedding album images within 90 days of your wedding day.  We will provide you with more information about this when you meet with us.

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?

Yes. We retain all copyrights.   We offer a Copy and Usage assignment to you, so that you can make unlimited personal copies and prints of your images. This would be a CD, DVD or thumb-drive that you can make unlimited prints from.

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes.   We may use some of your images to show to future clients, on my website, promotional items, contests, marketing, social media and other studio related products, unless you tell us specifically that you do not wish us to use your images.  Often times, local bridal magazines and / or website will contact us looking for wedding photos and we would love to be able to showcase your wedding.

Can I get the Raw files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives)?
Raw Files are not available.   High resolution jpeg images are  included in all of our wedding photography packages.

Will my photos be available for viewing on an online gallery?
Maybe. This is optional and could be included upon request. All wedding services include an online gallery of images to be able to share with your friends and family for up to 90 days or more depending on your choices.

What kind of albums do you offer?
Digital, Press Printed, Library Bound, Custom Designed, Trendy, Hip, Modern and more.  They can be fully customized and very beautiful and some come with a lifetime warranty.

When will I get my wedding album?
Approx. 6 – 12 weeks after your wedding album photos have been chosen. Once you have chosen your favorite images and provided them to us, we will design a custom wedding album for you using those images. We then show you our design for your approval and then send it off for printing and binding. Typically about 6 to 8 weeks later you will have your beautiful custom wedding album in your hands. (During the busier wedding months, it could take as long as 12 weeks to get your album).

How long does it take to deliver my wedding album?
Once we have the book, we will check it over carefully and if it meets our approval, we call and e-mail you. You can come by and pick it up in our studio, or we can ship it to you. All shipments go Priority Mail or Fedex which is 2-3 business days.  If you would like your wedding album shipped to you, a shipping and handling fee applies.

What style of Wedding Videos do you provide?

We offer what is known as Short-Form Wedding Videography. Our Short Form Wedding Videos are captured much like a Hollywood produced film. Throughout the day we capture many “clips” or video segments of your wedding in short “clips” that are later put together to create the story of your day. These clips are sometimes captured and placed into your video production in random order and may not make sense if watched individually. But, after being edited, together, each clip or segment helps to complete the story of your wedding day, without all the mundane, distracting or less exciting moments throughout your day. Just like the big Hollywood movies do, we may shoot a lot of footage, but the final film will not include everything that we originally captured.  We will choose the best scenes and the best looking footage to create our subjective interpretation of your day to produce a professionally edited wedding film. Your total wedding film length will be approximately 45 minutes or less, depending on the actual length of your ceremony and other milestone events.  You can view “Sample Videos”, which are very short samples of the type of wedding videos we provide by clicking the VIDEOS tab on this website.  Your final edited video production will be longer than the samples you can view on this website.

Do you offer Traditional Videography?

At this time, we do not offer, nor do we plan to offer traditional (old school) videography.  We refer to traditional videography as in just having a person following you all day, with a video camera who records everything that happened that day. Then providing you with an extremely long, mostly boring 8 hour long video filled with everything that happened that day (good or bad).  Most people don’t want to see that style of videography anymore.  We find that all of our clients love our modern approach to wedding videos because we still are able to capture all the important moments throughout the day, remove the boring stuff and keep the videos shorter, easier to watch and more like a movie.

How many videographers will I have at my wedding?

Most all of our Wedding Video packages include 2 videographers and one assistant.  The assistant is not another videographer.  They are there to help the primary and secondary videographers with carrying and setup of the various types of audio, lighting and video gear needed to capture your wedding.   The major advantage to a 2nd videographer is the ability to get multiple angles, coverage of the groom and groomsmen, as well as greater coverage overall.

Can you add my favorite songs from the day to my video?

When we are filming “live” we would be able to use any audio that is present, be it a song or otherwise, as long as the quality of the song sounds good, but this usually doesn’t sound great due to background noises.  During parts of your wedding film, we will use Royalty-Free music ( we pay the artists once for the right to use their songs in your video) and replace or accompany the live audio to make your wedding film sound better.  We cannot use most popular songs heard on the radio stations, unless the artist grants a Royalty Free license for use.  Nevertheless, we find songs that are beautiful and fit the story of your day and use those songs in your video.

When will I get my video?

Due to the large number of files and footage captured during your wedding day and the extensive editing process, it can take between 8 – 12 weeks for your wedding video to be completed. (Closer to 12 weeks during peak wedding season)

How will I get my video?

We provide your wedding video via Digital Delivery (Download),  format which is the most popular format today.   You may also opt to receive your video via our streaming channel, which is viewable online.

Can I get the Raw Video Footage?

At this time we do not offer, nor do we plan to offer the raw video footage from our weddings for the reasons explained in the paragraphs before…and because we believe in protecting the innocent.  Lots of times people at a wedding tend to forget that a video recorder also has audio and they may say something either to us, or within our microphone’s reach, that they would not want anyone else to hear. (It happens more often than you may think!) LOL.  For this and other reasons, we do not offer the raw video footage from our weddings. To reiterate, there is no option for you to see everything that was captured that day.  There is also no Gag Reel or Bloopers from your wedding day.  In the movies, Bloopers and Gag Reels are purposely recorded, although they try to make it seem like they were not…to be added to the DVD release as Extra Content.  We create a truly professional, fun, beautiful and romantic story with your wedding video, without the need to add Extra Content.

We are located in Oxford, MA but we can service any area of New England. We are laid back and we understand that weddings don’t always stay on time as planned, so we are able to stay a bit longer (+/- 30 minutes) at no extra charge, in order to complete the “story” in your photographs or video.

We work with all your other vendors in order to coordinate our efforts prior to the wedding day to prevent chaos and provide you with the best possible experience on your wedding day.

Whenever possible, we visit all venues prior to the wedding day to gain inspiration, meet the venue staff and get the do’s and don’ts from the church, or venue prior to the wedding day. This helps to ensure a seamless event for both the couple and the venue as well.

We are lots of fun, full of energy and keep a genuine smile on all day & night and make sure you and your guests have fun too.

We love what we do…and we feel it shows in our attitude and in our images.
